It would be more accurate to invert the idea, religions are occult in nature; where as "the occult" is more the primal source of modern religions that attempt to partition and alter ideas that have existed long before their inception.
There's a reason divination is outlawed in religion, it teaches you to listen to your intuition instead of the institution
