It seems that I'm in a perpetual state of uncertainty and discontentment because I can't seem to figure out how to achieve a goal that I expect will bring me long term happiness and contentment. The trouble is I can't seem to define exactly what this goal is because it's not really specific enough to be measurable.

Are happiness and success both fleeting emotions that don't last and shouldn't be chased anyway? Shouldn't we be happy with small victories every day instead of trying to reach a big one every few years? Am I worrying too much about the future?

Yes.

Yes. Not to beat a dead horse or whatever, but take things day by day. Worry about the now, not the "what if".

It was hard, but I've committed to forcing myself to live in the present. It doesn't really matter what happens tomorrow if I've still got the rest of today to influence the future.
