It's a disgrace. On the one hand, the US parades itself as the last bastion of freedom. On the other hand, civilians are expected to comply with police without question, facing disproportionate violence from cops.
The whole criminal justice system is flawed from the core. Prison should be rehabilitation centers, helping solve the roots of the issues that lead to crime. Armed police should be reserved for the worst of the worst crimes, but there should be a bigger focus on social services.
