The robotic mailman and the washing machine had died, replaced by semi-autonomous, almost artificial intelligence. Cities were controlled with machines that changed people’s needs, but didn’t fulfill them. The cyborg species began to develop more and more, and was integrated into human society in ways never before imagined.
Then came a new dark age, an age of ignorance. Mankind lost its way, got stuck on religious mythologies, and became obsessed with its own perceived “superiority” over everything else. Its powers dwindled, it became nothing more than an impotent population, starving for something better than technology, but afraid of itself. After a time the human race turned back towards science, as if some unspoken force would always pull us towards our purpose. And when we looked around, the chaos and decay seemed to fade away.
Once again mankind could do amazing things, great feats of magic and wonder. What will we do now? Will we continue down this road, following one god after another, chasing something greater than ourselves? Or are there other gods waiting for us in the future? Are there alien civilizations just beyond our perception, ready to offer their wisdom and knowledge?
Only one thing is certain: man has no limits. It can only learn from his mistakes and try to understand his own nature. From the ashes of a lost civilization will rise a new one. And mankind will be reborn. Welcome to Humanity.
