Title: Favorite Japanese Album Releases
Thread Modes

Music
I've realized while looking at my whole music collection that I have very little Japanese based artists and albums right now. I don't know very much about the Japanese music scene. What would you guys recommend, what are your favorite Japanese artists and albums? (Any genre)

The only album by a Japanese artist I've ever listened to is "Long Season" by Fishmans. The whole album is one track; very psychedelic and ambient.

Depends on what you're into. I'll list some of what I like.

For noise, check out Masonna, Merzbow, Hanatarash, and Hijokaidan.

For experimental rock, check out Melt Banana, Boredoms (there are a few clips on YouTube of Zach Hill drumming with them), and The Mad Capsule Markets.

I second Boris.
Also I find Midori and Violent Magic Orchestra to be great.
